I made this box for Ms Kimiko. When my wife and I went to visit my son in Japan last Oct she was very helpful in arranging for rooms and hotels while we were there. She gave us ideas for places to eat and places to see. She joined us for a few meals and accompanied us for some sight seeing. She’s a beautiful person and this was my way of thanking her for making our trip a little less stressful and much more enjoyable.
The box is made of goncalvo alves and walnut. The trays are mahogany with walnut bottoms. I finished the box with watco danish oil and severl coats of lacquer.

Nice box with interesting choices of woods. Plus your thoughtfulness to Ms.Kimiko will be very appreciated I am sure. Good to see someone take the time to properly acknowledge a helpful person.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you’re taking the time to view the post and you’re comments as well. I spent a lot of time on this one as I wanted it to be as perfect as possible. According to my son who presented it to her she was very pleased.
