That is a sharp carving. Very realistic.

I can tell you spent many hours on this carving and it shows. Looks good enough to eat :)

Beautiful! What kind of paint did you use? Were the fins all done seperately?

Yes, all the fins and gills were done separately. I used a air sprayer to apply the paint. Lots of mixing to get the different colors etc.

You did a beautiful job in carving and painting the fish. Your dad must have been thrilled. Is this your first attempt at carving? The reason I ask is because I see no other carving in your posts. If it is the first it’s quite wonderful. Thanks for posting.

Oakwood – No it is not my first carving. I’m bad about taking pictures and haven’t put any of the others on here, but I need to. I did several relief carvings before I attempted this fish!

Crazy good. I had no idea. There is an ability to see and think in three dimensions that I just can’t understand. It amazes me when I see it finished and just can’t picture how it gets to be that way. You have a special vision. Was the painting air brushed? I’ve been thinking of exploring that.

That’s a wonderful bass! The details are fantastic, especially the gills. Your Dad couldn’t help but be thrilled.
Thanks for sharing.
