My wife wanted a shoe bench for our garage entryway to replace the existing base cabinets. I think the plans are from Wood magazine, but I can’t recall. The plans called for edge-joined pine to create throughout. I decided to take a shortcut and build the carcass out of birch ply and the rest out of polar. My shortcut ended up costing me substanitally more time with the additions of face frames and measurement adjustments. Still, the most difficult part was duplicating the shaker pegs. They were all turned from the same poplar as the rest of the project. Red oak stain with 2 coats of wipe on poly.

She loves it.

That’s all that really matters, as the saying goes, “Happy wife, happy life!” Great job on these, they look great.
