I had a 19 y-o grandson with behaviour problems. He is severely epileptic and that causes some very sharp mood swings. He loves Chess, which I taught him many years ago and is fairly good at it so I threw him a challenge; from 23rd October if his Mum agreed that he had behaved in a socially acceptable manner for one month, I would make him his very own chessboard.
Since you are looking at it, you know he stuck at it and you probably also know that if you can change your behaviour for 30 days, the change is permanent.
End-grain Jarrah and Arakaria with a Redgum edge, finished with Tung, we presented it at Christmas and told all the family that he had earned it so he got re-inforcement.

Nice… and for those who done know…Arakaria… is Hoop Pine… aracaria cunninghamii
There is a story behind this name… not sure if it is true but when someone tried to export hoop pine to Japan, they did not want pine… so he named it Arakaria…with a ‘k’ and it goes there by the boat load…
Correct me if I am wrong… still makes a good story…
