Corner fireplace mantel

The fireplace mantel is of oak with coves cut on the table saw, using a hand scraper to make the large cove smooth. As is normal, the corner of the wall was not 90 degrees so I had to fiddle with the mitered corner. In order to keep the miter from separating with changes in humidity the top is made of oak veneer plywood.

This certainly is not your traditional mantel. You did a good job on the construction and design.

Well done.

Abe, that is one the best mantles I have seen. I love your choice of finish. Excellent post.

I have a fireplace exactly like this. And it desperately needs a mantle just like this. Very nice. Where can I get one?

Have your say...
