This box is made from a section of a maple tree trunk. It had great spalting and color. You can see some bark inclusions scattered throughout. I kept as much live edge as possible. The drawer handle is made from a piece of bark off the trunk. I sanded it 600 grit and finished with Watco Natural.
After that I used Beal buff to it to give it the high gloss finish.

I like it a lot, unique and ruggedly handsome.

You certainly have a knack for using wood well. Nice.

Am I the only one who sees a cat face in the pattern towards the front of the box?
Awesome looking piece!

Thanks for all the positive comments. I see the cat face now, but didn’t until you pointed it out.

Wonderfully unique box! Like the live edge and the spalting and has some little surprises.
