Valentine's Day

I designed this box for Valentine’s Day. I wanted to see what kind of reaction it would get on facebook since I do not normally do themed boxes.

The box is made of Bolivian Rosewood with African Rosewood (Bubinga) hearts.

The inlays are 1/4 inch think and another 1/8 inch below the surface of the Bolivian rosewood. I normally leave my inlays raised but wanted a different feel on this one.

While there are a couple of changes I would make if done over, I am very happy with how this one turned out. I hope it brings me lots of sales.

Thanks for taking a look.

Great box Joey. Make me a bit jealous. I wish I was home to have made one for my wife. I’ll keep it in mind for next year. Good luck on the sales.

Beautiful box. Nice thing about hearts is that they aren’t just for Valentines Day. Awesome work.

-- Nature created it, I just assemble it.

your valentine day box looks fantastic Joey…Bolivian Rosewood is such a nice wood and combining it with the heart inserts raised the bar.

Beautiful box and I really like the handle shape. I have been trying to come up with different ones. Hope you don’t mind if I kind of copy it on my next box.

Thanks everyone.

The handle shape came from the first heart I cut out but didn’t care for the shape. When it was time to add the handle, I saw it laying on the bench, cut it in half and it worked out nicely.

Very nice box and combination of woods too. I really like the subtle sculpting done on the top. This is a SMOOTH looking box. Good job!
