I combined two designs that I’ve always liked…..cannonball poster and captain’s bed (for added packing space). This was my first attempt at turning wooden spheres. I quickly learned that it’s not hard to make one, but a real challenge to make 4 that semi match in size. The bed is from European spruce stained with Imbuia. The side rails are tenoned into the head and footrails and secured with channel iron so it can come apart if need be. The slats are hardwood and provide the majority of the bed’s weight. The drawers are fairly large and mounted on ball bearing telescopic slides.
