I needed a new TV stand for the kids’ playroom so I built this one from my own design. I had the lumber sitting in my shop for over a year and it was time to use it! Overall size is 44”L x 11.5”W x 23”H. I sized the whole project based on the piece of figured Hard Maple I wanted to use for the top. According to the lumber mill, the middle and bottom shelf are African Mahogany and the ends are Tigerwood. Perhaps my fellow Lumberjocks can elaborate on the wood species, as I am not well-versed in the various species of Mahogany. For the joinery, I used stopped dadoes to attach the shelves and dowels to attach the top. Finish is 3 coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal.

A lovely, open design. Looks sturdy! I’ll bet everyone in the house likes it.

Love open shelves like this, simple design but sturdy and very useful.
