Router Box

I built this box for four reasons:

1 – I wanted something to do. So I just fiddled around and built a box.

2 – I have always been intrigued by Japanese Style toolboxes, and I quite like the whole idea of them, so I built this router box as a sort of trial and error project, working out the kinks and how to go about building a box like this.

3 – I had scrap 1×8 and 1×12 pine left over from a reno at the house so I figured I’d use that.

4 – I wanted a nicer box for my Makita palm router and my tiny bit set. This box does a perfect job!

Although its not pretty, and there are some gaps and things, its purely utilitarian but totally cool at the same time. My lid fits perfectly thanks to my block plane. It’s a good feeling.

If you had fun that’s what is all about.

You learned something while making a useful project. That’s a win.

Yeah, ya know… I’ve got a lot of power tools just sorta sitting around and I’ve always wanted to try my hand at this style of box. I see a lot of sawdust in my immediate future :)

Nice box :)
