I built one of these for my dad for last Christmas based on plans found on eBay. My wife decide that she wanted one so this was the second which now sits in our back garden.

It’s made from marine ply and tongue and groove board from the hardware store. Wood is extremely expensive in England so it was the cheapest way I could find of building it, and it it made things easier as my skills at joining are pretty much non existent.

Within the wide opening made for doves I’ve put backboards painted black with a small hole in for smaller birds, so as to stop pigeons taking up residence. Internally it has six separate ‘rooms’. The dovecote is painted traditional white.

Really nice job.

Our skills always exsist, our patience is often lacking in using them.

Beautiful birdhouse. I like the idea of making the small holes “dissappear” so the smaller birds can live in it.

That is very nice and a clever way of detering
the pigeons.
What size is it? It looks huge.

It is huge, big enough to house six pairs of doves. It’s about 3 foot tall and sites on a 9 foot post
