We recently moved to a nearly 100 year old Log bungalow near Downtown. I planned to build a playhouse for our kids so why not a small version of our house. It is 8’x10’ with a 4’x10’ porch and loft.
The kids love it and so does mom, keeps them out of the big house for hours.
The building is stick built with treated 2×4 used for the “logs” I built a couple jigs to cut out the half dovetail joints using a chain saw. The Chinking (mortar between logs) is just brick mortar
I haven’t got all the furniture and cabinets built for the Play house but they should be able to suffer along.
last photo is of our house

Awesome! My parents wouldn’t have seen me for days-on-end if I had one of those as a lad.

That has got to be the coolest playhouse I’ve ever seen. Maybe when the kids are old enough they can move out of the big house and in to the playhouse,,,,,,sort of their first apartment.

I can’t say enough about how nice your project turned out. You can hold your head high and smile proudly with talent like that! My wife and I love what you have done here. Makes me wish we still lived in Columbia so we could drive over to Murfreesboro and get a firsthand look at your work and maybe learn a thing or two!
Excellent work! Thanks for sharing!

wow thanks guys, I really appreciate the great comments. this was a lot of fun and has been a big hit. The kids are all out in it right now. Woodshaver, if you’re ever back it this neck of the woods your more than welcome to stop by.
Next addition Id like to make is a working 2 way phone between the play house and big house, getting the phones to ring is the trick : -). I’m thinking I’ll use the guts of a newer phone and built a replica teens or ‘20 era wall phone. the kids are already talking about how they can make their food orders and mom can deliver them :-) they are funny kids.

There is so much joy in seeing happy kids enjoying something you build for them.
Good luck with your 2 way phone adventure! I’m positive you will figure that task out. You’ve go a great thing going on there in Murfreesboro and maybe someday if I ever pass through those parts again I’ll look you up!
Tanks for the invite!
Tony
