Jewelry Box with USB

I made this jewelry box for my wife this Christmas. She really enjoyed getting it and I enjoyed making it. The box is made of mahogany and the lid is made out of ebony. I had a small piece of ebony that I cut with my bandsaw to make a piece big enough for the top. It was my first time to use ebony and it’s a different kind of wood to work with.
I purchased a digital key chain frame and soldered on a switch so that it turns on when the lid is opened. There is an opening in the back for plugging in the cord to charge and add additional images. I just couldn’t resist adding USB to this box.
Both sides open up and there is an inner and outer area to hang necklaces for a total of 18 hooks.
There was another project on this site that showed how to add felt and I used that method which worked really well. Essentially it’s cutting out poster board to about an 1/8” less and then spray gluing the fabric on. I went through two poster boards of backing because of all the drawers and almost a yard and a half of material. Overall a very enjoyable project and also had my son help me with it. (Hoping he will be a woodworker as well.)

Very attractive project. Nicely done in all respects—design, choice of woods, craftsmanship, felt lining and finish.
