Military Deployment Pen, Iraq and Afghanistan

I have been making pens for 5 years now and I have never made a pen for myself. I got an idea to make a pan using colored veneer to make a campaign medal for Iraq and Afghanistan for each deployment I have been on. Each ribbon has about 30 layers of veneer. The gluing took the most time to get it just right. I used a 1” maple dowel to make the ribbon stand out against the background and I think it works. The pen is the majestic pen kit from Pen State Industries.

Neat idea putting the OEF/OIF campaign medal’s pattern into the pen design. Nicely done.
