That’s because my family is running out of young’uns. They are all growing up and want video games and cell phones! Made this totally out of pine, not sure what the pilot is, I wanted it to look like a real old time toy.
I got the plans from one of the woodworking sites – don’t remember which.
I actually had a alot of fun manufacturing each and every part. Once again, LOVE my new lathe…. just loaded up a chunk of pine and turned the fuselage, right down to the tapered tail end.
Not an earth shattering project, but more fun than a barrel of monkeys for me!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY LUMBERJOCK FRIENDS.

Nice looking gift, you did good.
How did you cut the seat area out? Did you cut out before you turned the fuselage or after?

Nice toy. Maybe you can get one of them into the shop to make some simple toys? A friend of mine did that with his grandkids. When they came for a visit the next year they made a musical instument from a kit. Only way to compete with all that short term gratification.

AlBCuttnWud. Yeah, I used a dado stack and made a few passes before I turned the body, then used a sharp chisel and sandpaper to clean the dado lines. Had to use a forstner bit to drill the hole for the pilot to sit in.
Thanks for asking!

Hey Doc, what part of video games did you not see? LOL
I’d love to pass on some knowledge, but the nephews will probably have to get the desire someplace else as I can’t talk them into it. Ah well….....
