This is a piece of thorn apple, dried aprox 6 months sealed with endgrain seal …. then turned as natural edge 7 " 3" deep ,finished with 25/25/50 poly,blo/paint thinner.spun on while turning and finish coated with beeswax.
At first it didn't look round and I couldn't figure out how you did it, but I see one side is just short.
I just got off my lathe. I had a glue up of walnut, red oak, and spalted maple. I turned a blank to insert a clock. I sanded it progressively to 600g then wax, then wipe on poly. I like the shine it gives.
