Or, “My version of ATF: Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms”.
It’s a Tabak Especial box, about 9×7x3. Sides are really soft, maybe cedar or mahogany, with plywood top and bottom. It has a maple through neck, hickory nut and bridge, and the G, D, and A strings (#2, 3 and 4) from a light acoustic string set, which I have tuned to G, D, G for slide playing. The bushings at the string anchorage are pop rivets with the stems removed. I wired up a piezo pickup (you can see the jack on the front), but it sounded so good acoustic that I decided to build the amp another day, and closed it up with screws. They’re little pocket screws with the thick head – they’re in the lower corners where they don’t show too much. See my blog for a few more construction pictures.

Look around for smoke shops. I found one that would sell me their boxes. I bought several so they gave me a discount.
