Projects completed 1986-89. These are samples of the small shelves I’ve built. The first one is a Woodsmith project and was a wedding gift for my best friend. It is made of alder…not the best choice for durability. The second one is made of ash and features through dovetails cut on my Leigh dovetail jig. My Dad has built many of these as window valances/shelves…very handy. The final shelf was per my late-wife’s request. She wanted something with a heart in it.

The alder quilt rack was built sometime in the mid 90’s. My late wife had a winter-theme quilt and a summer-theme quilt to display. My daughter proudly displays those quilts in her apartment now.

Not sure about the durability comment. As the recipient of that particular wedding gift over 25 years ago, it has made 8 moves, including 4 overseas moves and it still looks like the day you gave it to us!
