My first bandsaw box

I figured I would give this bandsaw box thing a try. My son wanted it right after completion so I didn’t even get to apply any type of finish. I did run into one weird issue. After I glued the outer shell back together the drawer wouldn’t fit back in. It wasn’t even really that close. I had to do a decent amount of sanding to get it to fit back in. It would go about halfway in and then get stuck. Now I only have a crappy Ryobi bandsaw that really only gets used for the pinewood derby. I tried to lineup everything as described in the manual but I guess something wasn’t lined up correctly. My guess is that the table wasn’t completely square to the blade. Has anyone ever run into the problem with the drawer not fitting back in? If so any ideas what it is?

I ran into that problem on my first one too. I was so excited to use my bandsaw that I did not properly square up my table to the blade. My first one went unfinished as well because my daughter wanted it. Nice job for your first one!

Good effort!
On my first attempt I had no trouble with the drawer, but on my second one I found I could only replace the drawer from the back (before I glued the back on). This was caused by the stock not being perfectly square.
I sanded it just enough to fit it back in – and now it’s a box whose drawer doesn’t come out, at least not easily.
Works quite well I think.

Oh, and my first one went to my son too :)

Have your say...
