The announcement that my nephew was getting married was great news. She’s a wonderful girl and I couldn’t be happier for them. Moving into their new place included the need for a media center in the new Man Cave. After a little shopping, the request came for a build for something to fit their needs. It made the wedding gift a no brainer.
Construction from oak. The main box and shelves are 3/4” plywood. The top is a glued up panel of 5/4 boards. The face frame and door frames are 4/4 oak. THe back panel is 1/4” oak plywood. Trim moldings are box store. I recently got a Kreg Jig and put it to use for the first time in several parts of this project along with a lot of good old fashioned glue. All parts sanded to 150. Stain is Minwax Dark Walnut. Topcoat is spray lacquer done by a local finishing shop I have used for many projects. Tempered glass in the doors. Finished dimensions 72” x 24” x 24”.
Now about that Super Bowl Party invitation….....

Nice! I have to build something like that for our TV—can only hope mine turns out half as good!
