Vanity and Medicine Cabinets

We just finished a full renovation of our master bathroom, new shower, tub and vanity… the contractor did all the main work, but I decided to build all the wood pieces. I’m sure he was nervous, afraid that I’d leave him waiting on me, but it worked out great – all my projects were done when he needed them.

The medicine cabinets could not be recessed into the walls, so we had to come up with a solution for lighting. I saw some cabinets for sail with lights attached, so we decided to build ours that way… We were really happy with the results, and our Contractor said that several of his subs commented on the pieces, and one took pictures of the medicine cabinets… This is the first time I’ve ever hired someone to do a reno on our home, so it was good to have at least some hand in the finished product!

Beautiful work on those cabinets, fit and finish turned out great.
I discovered the advantages of owning one of the new vibrating saws “multi tool” things, mine is a Bosch.
It enabled me to make precise plunge cuts right into the two by fours behind the drywall in order to recess my cabinet, the saw sliced the two by’s like a knife thru butter.

I wanted to recess my cabinets, but it was going to be too much work, given where the studs, plumbing, and electrical were – so we put the lights on the cabinets, and it has worked out great…
