This is really a fun one. This is a lamp made of cherry. I used my angle grinder again to carve this out of solid cherry. Inside this is a small flood light. This is mounted on a turned pedistal and sits on a purple heart base. One of the little balls on the base is the light switch.

Mounted on the “heart strings” made of bubinga, is a mirror. As the light is turned on, it projects a heart on the wall behind it. The heart mirror is designed to be movable so the heart reflection can be adjusted. This was a piece that I donated to benefit a charity.

The finish is my favorite tung oil. All of this is finished to a fine 4000 grit sanding. The dimensions are 22×7 x 4.

Interesting, what was your inspiration for this piece? There has to be a story behind it, please share it.

My daughter went to NYC and saw a plastic heart with a mirror that reflected the light from the lamp, I figured that I could create an even better version, and I think I achieved that. Yearly, I donate a heart shaped object to a local charity for children for a silent auction. This lamp sold for $1500

I think the uniqueness of your work, and the attention to detail really come through. I can’t speak for all of us, but I can see you!
