These are some of the pictures from the Wood World Dallas Freedom Pen Turnathon 2012. I was lucky enough to win Best Finish for the day. Pretty cool honor. Over the past year I was able to turn and complete just over 300 pens for the project. Just under 400 pens were turn at the one day Turnathon. At one point there were over 30 lathes humming with wood turners making pens. What a great day it was!! I look forward to next years event!! All comment are welcomed. If you want to get involve with the Freedom Pen Project let me know and I will give you the contact info. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the comments. The pen is all wood, maple in fact. The top is a technique I learned at a turners meeting and decided to try it on a pen. It is like a cobble stone affect. I may have to make one and post the steps.

Now that’s a cool top. How did you do that? Congratulations on your award! I’ve never heard of the Freedom Pen Project since I’m “way up” in Canada, what’s it all about as it sounds very interesting.
