I had a customer bring me an exceptional piece of English Walnut to make him a goose flute. Nerve racking to say the least but I tackled the project with complete attention to detail and it came out flawless. I love to work with high grade wood when the chance comes up. He told me it’s going on a shelf, not the marsh, and I think he will be pleased… :)

All the best!

That is beautiful wood! Very impressive call, but it needs to call at least one goose!

I tried to send a message but the forum will not let me because I don’t have enough posts yet. I just joined today and I am an amateur call maker. I was wondering if you had any more info about your setup for making calls. I am currently using a shopsmith in conjunction with an expanding mandrel and supernova chuck. I am having a lot of problems with the call spinning around the mandrel or the mandrel slipping inside the chuck. Any suggestions?
