The start to my bedroom set was this ribboned mahogany bed and matching two drawer nightstands, both fairly low profile and somewhat contemporary. Mostly mortise and tenon joinery, with a French sliding dovertail detail on the nightstand drawers. I just love the look of this wood in a more contemporary setting.

Very nice! I’m working on a bed for my daughter right now using some stripey mahogany as well. Yours is a very different style, but the side panels are similar to what I’m planning and it’s nice to see that they look as good in real life as they did in my mind!

I have been thinking of making one in mahogany too. I like your design. Can you post a photo of the foot board?
