2nd box I made from scrap wood that I planed and stacked together. Glued a stack 4 inches wide by 10 inches long. Cut 3/4 inch strips with bandsaw. Sanded and planed to 11/16. Cut Middle out using Chop saw at a 45deg. Pulled out center and spun 180deg. Glued back together. Sanded and Planed to 5/8. Dado front and back to 5/8 glued together and rounded edges. Finished with Polyurethane. The top is two pieces of walnut I butt jointed it is solid wood not a veneer and is 5/8 thick. The bottom is a 1/4 piece of scrap birch plywood I had.
