The boys needed a new bed and their room is small. The solution: a bunk bed. I decided to design a custom bed designed around their current favorite superheros – the X-men.

The original design in SketchUp

It’s a hit!

I blogged the design and build process here

The kids were up playing on it late into the night and have been climbing all over it all morning. Definitely makes it worth the effort!

What a great project. It looks very sturdy. I like the silver contrast and the drawers in the steps.
Looks like the family approves of it as well.
Nice one!

I see how you changed it around a bit with the drawers. Either way is very kool. Lotsa storage and a gr8 place ta take a nap.

Other than building it backwards, it looks great!!! LOL.

Very nice job. I bet the kids love it.

Yeah, Lee…worked better with the stairs on the other end. Thanks, all!

Really very creative design.Kids love bunk beds for the adventure of sleeping up high and the extra floor space that they offer.Place the bunk bed tightly against the wall to prevent children from becoming trapped between the bunk and wall.

Have your say...
