These are my first attempts at segmented turning. I helped as an instructor with our turning clubs segmented turning class this past April and then came home and put to use what I had learned from helpinig others and came up with these two pet urns. The wife and I are both pretty happy with the way they turned out.

Max’s urn is made from oak, walnut, purple heart and maple. It is 7 1/2” tall by 6”.

Pup’s urn is made from zebrawood, oak, walnut and maple. It too, is 7 1/2” x 6”.

I had been kicking around the idea of making bases for them to set on that would hold the name tags. But, in a rare flash of brillinace I got the idea to incorporate round tags into the tops. We think they turned out pretty good.

I think I’ve done well for them both.

This would have had a lot of memories going thru your head as these two beauties rolled of the lathe Darell, very nicely personalised on the bottom. Fabulous job for a couple of “mates” :)

Thanks Pete. You’re right, lots of memories. Glad I was able to do something like this for my buddies. Still missing ole Max on my daily walks.
