This was a present that I built this Christmas for my wife. I had stained it but left it unfinished due to lack of time and gave it to her on Christmas morning. The idea came from a picture frame that we have and you can see in picture #2 with a similar design that I copied for the shelves. The bookshelf itself is made from birch plywood and then faced with birch hardwood which was put together using numerous dado cuts which, for a newbie like me, took a lot of measuring and pre-cut layout before I had the nerve to run the boards through. The finish is a glossy Minwax bombay mahogany to match the rest of our bedroom furniture we have. The initial finish I had put on it beaded and looked terrible so I had to re-finish the finish before I brought it home, which is why it was a February Christmas gift…...but she loved it anyways! Another project and a lot more learned, thanks for looking
