I designed and built this out of “necessity” while deployed in Kuwait 2011-12. I was fortunate enough to be able to use my laptop there but was aggravated at having to rest it in my lap all the time while in my bunk. The legs fold up underneath for spacious storage, and part of the top (where the laptop rests) can adjust in elevation depending on comfort. Normally the lowest setting seems to be fine but I have the option to increase the angle if need be. Couple of things I would of done differently: (1) The stationary part of the top is for the mouse and is glued straight to the base. This doesn’t allow for expansion or contraction at all and could be a problem in the future. (2) I could of drilled some holes in the top that the laptop rests on for ventilation. Fortunately my laptop will sit on this all day and not overheat due to my heat coming out the side of my laptop instead of the bottom. It served me very well and will continue to do so for a long time.
You can check out some of my other projects here.

Good idea ! It could also be used on the sofa, while looking TV. I’ll perhaps made one for my wife. Thx for sharing.
