Just finished the captive ring stopper out of a mahogany offcut from a table leg. In my opinion, mahogany is a real pleasure to turn. It would have been much easier with the proper tools, rather than just a skew chisel but this really forced me to pay attention (which is always a valuable lesson). My lovely wife really, really likes it and that makes it all worthwhile.

The 2nd picture is a small collection of stoppers of various woods; (in no particular order) mahogany, osage orange, madrone and cocobolo. Bottle stoppers are an excellent use for those “useless scraps” and offcuts. A valued gift can be made in just a few minutes!

Thanks for looking
