Welp, I did it too. Made that cutting board from The Wood Whisperer. I accidentally cut the wrong measurement on the crosscut and ended up with a shorter, but fatter board. Eh, it’s good too. Also, the maple was much softer than the purpleheart. I had no idea how hard purpleheart is. Two problems I had with the different hardnesses; one, during the second glue up, the maple squished in some spots and ended up twisting a bit. You can’t see in the photo, but if you could look down the lines, you’d see it. Second, can’t really get it flat because the maple gets blown away and the purpleheart hardly gives anything up. Still, it looks pretty good, and goes for mom’s birthday.

it’s the journey that counts
and many lead to unknown destinations
don’t fall asleep yet
there is another surprise
just around the corner
i find that weight and density
seem to go hand in hand
so am careful what woods i use together
and how wide denser and softer
ones i put together
especially in cutters
keep it up
you are doing good
