Little boxes

Here are three little boxes that I made in the last week. I have been getting really tired of making drawers for my spice cabinet, and I decided that I needed a little break. So I used up some scrap cherry (cherry is NEVER scrap in my shop, ‘leftover’ is a better word) and I made these little boxes. All hand cut DT’s of course, and the hinges are hidden wood hinges (you can kinda see the hinges while they are sitting in the sun).

First box, I used my table saw to cut the cove, and the I used my block plane and scrapers to clean it all up.
Second box, I again used my TBS for the middle cove, and a rasp for the ‘serpentine’ profile.
Third box I used my block plane to do all the rounding.

Then into the sun. Third picture is the box fresh from the shop with one coat of BLO, then sitting in the sun. Last picture is the same box after 2 days of sun. I love cherry.

Now to get back to my spice cabinet.

Thanks for looking.

Well done, I love the dovetail work, nice, clean and tight, good job.

Have your say...
