Under Bench Tool Chest

I have to give shout outs to fellow LJs dakotawood and Lenny for some helpful design ideas. It is so very nice to have all of your most commonly used tools right under the bench. This also helps me keep the bench cleaner by having a place to put tools away after or duing a project. I used cabinet grade birch plywood for the cabinet and drawer fonts and then maple and walnut for the drawer pulls. Four of name drawer pulls are my 4 grandsons, then the wife and my two daughers. It’s kinda funny how I associate a tools location with someones name. I seem to know where stuff is now!

I like it. The named pulls really do add a personal touch.

Let me guess…your wife’s name is on the drawer where your screwdrivers are stored! :-)

Nice build for sure.

In response to the post from MT_Stringer. LOL! Did not think of that one. I was trying to get words nagging and tools in the same sentence and came up with nothing! Actually she is, in my mind the greatest! She is very supportive of my hobby endeavors. She is also responsible for my 14” Jet Bandsaw that cut out the names as last years Christmas gift!

When I bought my new tool cabinet at Harbor Freight, my wife was all for it. So, first thing we did was dedicate the top left drawer for screwdrivers. It seems that is used the most and she is always asking where the screwdrivers are…and she turns the screws around our house. :-)

The lettering style or font reminds me of the ‘48 Chevy Fleetline my Dad had when we were growing up… that was a long time ago…

The handles look like Fairlane or Classic Car font. Nice touch.

Looks good.

I have to agree. At first glance, I thought you went to the wrecking yard and took emblems off of cars. Different is always good in my book…...........

Fantastic job! Just finished a similar addition (not as nice as yours) to my bench yesterday. Can hardly wait to start filling. Pulls are over the top!

This is something that’s on my “bucket-list”. This makes for nice, easy access to hand tools at the bench.
