These are the two loft beds I made for my daughters. Made from pine with some supports made out of spruce. They truly enjoy them and many requests have been made to build more for friends of the family.
The dimensions
48” wide
88” long
The bed sits at 64” off the ground
the top rails are at 82” to 86”
The bed does break down to
5 rails
1 headboard
1 footboard
1 pc plywood sleeping area
1 pc carpet that is place over the plywood (shag of course)
Also, the back side of the footboard is completely dry erase because they will write on it!

195 views and no comments? Come on people! I for one think this project is great because I would have loved to have had one when I was a kid. Nice work, Hammer.

That is very cool! I really like the direction you went with desk area underneath.

Josh and Ben, thank you for commenting on the beds. I decided to go to a corner desk underneath to allow a little more space for all the odds and ends children collect on them and to also allow for a little more space underneath. Sometimes I am happy wit that decision, other times . . . .not so much. I also built two lights into the top rail of the headboard and changed out the regular bulbs for LED’s so heat is not an issue, their heads are so close to them. Again, thank for viewing and commenting!

I love this bed!! Have you considered storage stairs to get up to the top bunk. It seems to be all the rage with kids in my area.

Nice job.Children’s lofts beds are incredibly useful to a lot of families because they create a massive space for children to use. These types of lofts beds are essentially single beds that are raised several meters of the ground. This means that the space below isn’t wasted like the majority of conventional beds.

Great looking bed. I am looking to build something similar and would love to know what size and type of wood you used. Also what kind of joints?
Have your say...
