Lightening struck a hickory tree and peeled a big piece off the side; I thought it looked like a good bench slab. I cut it into 2 parts, this was the poorer side for a practice run. Also used the branches for the legs and bracing; and man! is that some tuff wood to get a screw or nail into! Next one will have to be all mortices.

Thanks for the comments; It’s a jar of iced tea for size reference. And, I guess I should explain the guy hanging from our railing- my hip boots have a leak and are drying out for the next walk down the river..
