So this is my latest build. We had a table and four chairs in our kitchen that just didn’t fit all of us at meal time. The solution was to build a booth!
I posted this blog that goes through the process a little more extensively, with more pictures…but I wanted to post it here too.
The majority of the project is recycled material, and ultimately due to the choice of materials, this was a very inexpensive project for me to do.
I built in-bench storage across the back, and then there are shelves under either side. There is also a “secret” compartment in it.
The next step will be to build a freestanding bench to go on the outside of the table, that can be slid underneath when not in use.
This will come in very useful, and we will be able to create all sorts of wonderful memories of eating meals in comfort, with every chewing-with-their-mouth-open and reaching-across-the-table-over-someone-else’s-plate moment firmly ingrained into our brains.
All comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcomed. Thanks for checking it out!

Heh heh, he paid attention to the whereabouts of his food bowl through the entire process!

You may have gone cheap on the materials, but the work looks good. If there are kids involved the material choice was smart. Is there a plan for a matching table? The styles kind of clash!!
-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

Yeah, probably not a matching table, yet. Her solution, because she is partial to this table, is a tablecloth. I said, “Honey, sounds great!”
Thanks for checking it out, Robert.
