Small mallet that I like the size and feel if for use in carving. Made of quartersawn and curly pin oak. Finished with linseed oil.

Nice mallet. I’ve never worked with wood from a pin oak tree. It has a very pronounced grain to it. Nice work. Did you add any weight? I’ve made a few mallets similar to this, but the have always felt just a little light in weight unless I added some weight. My favorite way to add additional weight is to epoxy some lead fishing weights into the top of the mallet.
