This is a box I completed yesterday…I guess I can call it my April Fool’s Box. I have another show to do in about a month …so I am working to get as many new boxes ready as possible.
This box is made with BubbaBinga and Zebrawood that I had in the shop. The finish is 7 coats of spray lacquer.

That’s one nice looking box Greg. I like the ripple effect you achieved with your sculpting and the detail for the feet. I have some Bubinga sitting in the lumber rack waiting for me to make a box out of. I hope I can pull out as much character from the wood as you did.
Good luck at your show.

Another fantastic box. Good luck at the show! Do you sell these or just show them? What price are they fetching? (Just curious.)

Very nice Greg.
Is it me or is this one a little quieter and simpler in it’s contours?
It seems almost soothing.

thanks for the positive feedback.
Docsavage…The last show was fantastic! Houston has some excellent shows and i hope to do this one again. There were around 300 booths there and some really outstanding work in many categories.
JoeyG…you need to pull that Bubinga out of the lumber rack and make a box. It is really a beautiful wood and takes such a nice finish. I plan on using more of it and need to make a lumberyard trip to get more.
Art…I sell these at the shows…need to recoup some of the expenses of the show and get some more lumber and tool money. I sell them anywhere from $295 – $750 and I did have some flat bottom boxes with reduced prices as a show special.
Paul…I did try to simplify the design a bit just as a change of pace and as an attempt to keep some different ideas and designs flowing. As I had my display set up at the Houston show and viewed the 40 boxes I had displayed I realized how i need to continually create variables in my designs so the look doesn’t get boring. Also, a simpler design = less time involved so I can vary pricing.

Greg,
You are certainly prolific! And, your work is amazing. The clocks, birdhouses and furniture are simply fantastic. The boxes are very creative and oh, so pretty. IMO, the Bubbabinga box is one of the best.
I’ll bet the browsers at the shows can’t keep their hands off those, so tactile, boxes.

When you combine sculpting to the natural beauty of zebra wood, you took “3 dimension” beauty to a higher level. Each time you look at the box, you’d see something different! Nice job, Greg.

Excellent work! I was fortunate to see your work at the Houston Art festival a few weeks ago. Most impressive.
