Here is an Air Force Command Pilot Wing functional badge retirement shadowbox I was asked to build by a memeber at the Pentagon. From what I could tell from searching the internet, no one else has done one yet. I used the Intarsia Art form on the wreath and wings. After using my scroll saw to cut out the centers of the wings I used a Rabbit bit and routered the slot for the glass and then again for the backing. The wings and flag backs are screwed on for easy access to put the retirees items inside. It’s made of solid Oak. Thanks for looking. Enjoy! If you have any questions about this design or any of my displays, please feel free to e-mail me!

Absolutely fantastic! I love it. Plagiarism being the most sincere form of flattery, I think I’ll try to copy it, although intarsia is not my forte. But that is really terrific. I kind of expected it, having seen what you did on the laurel wreath. That by itself is a work of art. Can you give me some idea of the overall dimensions? Really a great execution. Thanks for sharing.

P.S. Small technical note, it’s not Master Pilot, it’s Command Pilot. It goes Pilot, Senior Pilot, Command Pilot.

I appreciate your admiration and input (will have to make changes). It’s 39.5” wingtip to wingtip, 13.5” top to bottom.

Awesome! Having a retirement shadowbox that nice helps to make up for having to work in the Pentagon for one’s last tour!

ok…. I am retiring soon and this … is… awesome!

1. how much? I so want this.
2. Does is allow a regular US Flag – most display the flag in triangle. Is that why the badge portion is so deep?
