Here’s a handplane birdhouse I made from the plans on the PopWood website. I gave it to my parents for Christmas, and my father mounted it on a crossbeam in their backyard that had been used years ago to support a swing.
I made the bottom removable (it’s held in place by just two or three screws), which is a change from the plans, but I think it made construction easier and allows the birdhouse to be mounted by its back, as shown in the last picture.

Update. My parents report that no birds ever nested in the plane/birdhouse. Maybe I should have made a replica of an infill smoother.
