My middle son is getting married in March and after looking around for a stand for the wedding cake wanted to know if I could make one. Well you know me—couldn’t refuse the opportunity to make a new project so here it is. Made from Peruvian walnut the top is 16” in diameter with a 10” base and 9” tall turned pedestal. Used an Ogee bit for edge detail, sanded to 400 grit and finished with 4 coats of wipe -on poly. Fun little project

bravo …dad came to the rescue…it looks very elegant , walnut was the right choice…or mahogany would have done well also…but it looks great mike…at least this project is not spitting out ears of corn..now if you could make one where the cake comes out, i might stand in line for that…lol…..grizz

That came out perfectly ! The Peruvian Walnut looks so rich and the Ogee profile added just enough style to the piece . Very nice pedestal turning as well. Is it doweled in place , or did you turn stubs on the ends ?
Great job , Dad : )
