So after this morning’s lathe rip out of the other half of the Zebrawood blank, I took the scrap from the Purpleheart blank and the left over of the Zebrawood blank and put them together to make the bottom half of this pen. It is for my son, who is will soon be 6 yrs old. I made the bottom extra big with grooves for him to grip easily…..he loves it. Thanks for looking.

That was a good idea, I am glad you got to use the zebra wood, it really came out nice.

-- Martin ....always count the number of fingers you have before, and after using the saw.

Nice recovery! I assume you were turning the zebrawood on the endgrain? I too have had my fair share of blow out disasters with zebrawood endgrain. But it looks so much better turned that way IMHO. if anyone has any suggestions on how to minimize or eliminate this, I’m all ears!
