Basswood on Cherry, sanded smooth and finished with renaissance wax.
I made this as a gift, it was a good learning experience for carving and helped me realize that I should expand my chisel/gouge selection.

Very nicely done! Did you rough out the openings before carving, or were the openings part of the carving operations? I assume you made the carving before attaching it to the cherry backing. Great job!

This piece is beautiful, almost looks like ribbon since the carvings are so clean, really nice job.
-- Martin ....always count the number of fingers you have before, and after using the saw.
