I had built a step stool and was looking around the shop for something nice to use for the steps. Spotted some cedar slabs leaning up against the wall, which I had been using for kindling… After peeling the bark off I noticed the neat pattern the grubs had left and my search was over. I had to remove much of it because of decay but was able to leave enough to give it a nice appearance. As an added bonus the arched tops are very comfortable to stand on. You can bet that i’ll be a little more cautious about what gets the axe put to it..

I was wondering about the round treads too. A cool looking step stool.

I know doesnt sound too logical, but after placing them and trying it out i found it to be quite pleasing to the foot. Its a very low profile and as my wife pointed out, you cant use it for a plant stand…

Good discovery! I hate how my feet feel after standing on ladders for any time… Also a nice save from the wife’s plants, they always leak and destroy fine woodworking.

Again, nice build. I can’t knock it until I try it. Which I might….............

I don’t know if you call that spalted or infested wood or they are one in the same. It looks really nice.
