This is a Crochet Thread holder my wife asked me for. She got tired of the cat swatting the ball of thread around the room while she’s working on one of her projects. This will hold the ball of thread and unwind as she uses it. Also built in is a storage compartment for crochet hooks, scissors, etc. I made this from scrap wood laying around. The sides of the box are made from dimensional pine, the top and bottom is scrap Luan and the two uprights are oak. The lid handle & dowel are from a piece of oak dowel left over from a repair I did to a friends beach chair. The lid handle, I just flattened one side of the dowel and glued and screwed it on. The lid is held on by two 1/4” Rare Earth magnets and it’s just enough to hold the lid on. I stained it using Minwax Old English stain and put two coats of clear polyurethane.
Bottom line is, Mama’s happy and when she’s happy Papa can buy a Freud Box Joint blade set. LOL

Good innovation and an excellent trade for the box joint cutterset!

That’s a nice project! My mom always crocheted and I am sure she would have loved something like that!
