A plant stand requested by my mom. Maple and cherry. Through mortises suspend the shelves, held in place with cherry dowels. The slats in the shelves are mortise and slot. Finished with several coats of enduro var. I tried to do some carved swirls for decoration, but sort of chickened out on them and I think I didn’t make them deep enough, so they’re not very noticeable except in the proper light.

My wife would love this. I better not let her see it. She wants me to build too much stuff already. Good job.
-- I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you. I'm sorry, thanks.

I like the streamlined design. I’ve been thinking of building something like this for my fiancĂ©e but now I might have to go back to the drawing board. :)

A very tidy attractive piece – through angled mortises no less! Tough to do as well as you have done. The expanding center detail is a treat and the finish lustrous.
Lucky mom, big points to the son.
