It’s not wood, but it grew next to a tree…...This basket is made from Bear grass that grew behind the house. My wife doesn’t have basket making experience, but decided to make a basket out of grass…...? I don’t no how on earth she figured this out but I know it wasn’t easy!!!!! When dry this grass is really tough. It’s about 8” long.

This is a beautiful basket . Nice weaving . Is this the natural color when the bear grass dries ? I would like to have a few of these. Mrs. Esterby did a great job on this first basket . best wishes .
