We disliked the plastic steps we had to get in and out of our hottub. I salvaged all the cedar for these two benches out of cutoffs from a porch on a new home build. Design was driven by the 6” square legs, I had 4 pieces about 20” long each, of the corner posts from the timber framed porch. Completely assembled with pocket hole joinery mostly hidden below. (you can see the plastic steps off to the side in the one picture)

Great idea. I’ve got some scrap cedar from my sauna, and I’m headed to the shop.
