Kitchen bench that seats 5 adults comfortably. 18” high, 18” deep. Used 2×4 for the supports, 1/4” oak veneer for the front panel, 3/4” oak veneer for the top. It is sturdy. Had to build a bit of an extension for a furnace duct that was in the corner of the room. Also had some challenges fitting the mitre in the corner as I discovered when I installed it that my walls are neither square nor straight. Cushions are my first attempt at upholstering and are not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

Great job, looks very good. There is always something that must be adjusted and looks like it came out well planned

Could under the benches be used for storage, perhaps hinging the tops?

That’s the way I designed it but my better half decided against it so the top is secured in place. With very little effort I could hinge the tops if we ever wanted to use it for storage.

Have your say...
